Often, prediction market odds reflect a different perspective than those found at traditional sportsbooks. Sportsbooks set lines to balance action and incorporate a profit margin, while this market relies on the wisdom of the crowd. If there's disagreement between the two, it can indicate that prediction market traders believe the sportsbook is mispricing the probability of a particular outcome. It's also possible that information not yet fully incorporated into sportsbook odds is already reflected in the prediction market, leading to differences in implied probabilities.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism where traders buy and sell shares representing their belief in the outcome. The price of these shares directly reflects the implied probability of that outcome occurring. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. As more traders participate and express their views, the price adjusts to represent the collective prediction. The market's price isn't determined by any central authority but emerges from the interactions of all participants, making it a dynamic and responsive indicator of expectations for the Dodin vs Hays match.
