Typically, prediction market odds reflect a broader range of information and incentives than traditional sportsbook odds. Sportsbooks often set lines to balance action and incorporate a profit margin, while this market aggregates the wisdom of the crowd. If sportsbook odds significantly differ from those on Polymarket, it could indicate disagreement about the likely outcome or differing levels of information available to each group. However, it’s important to remember that both represent probabilities based on available data and expert opinion.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous exchange where traders buy and sell shares representing their belief in each outcome. The price of a share directly reflects the implied probability of that outcome occurring. As more traders participate, the price adjusts to reflect the collective assessment of the event’s likelihood. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The market’s price is determined solely by supply and demand within Polymarket, and is not influenced by external factors or other prediction markets.
