Prediction market odds often reflect the wisdom of the crowd, potentially differing from traditional sportsbook odds due to varying information sources and incentives. Sportsbooks set lines based on their own modeling and need to account for profit margins, while this market relies on traders directly expressing their beliefs. If sportsbook odds significantly diverge from those found here, it could indicate that the market perceives information differently or that there’s an opportunity for arbitrage. It’s common to see both similarities and differences, depending on the event and the information available to both groups.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism where traders buy and sell shares representing their belief in the outcome. The price of these shares directly reflects the implied probability of that outcome occurring. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. As more traders participate and express their views, the price adjusts to reflect the collective assessment. The market’s price is determined solely by supply and demand within Polymarket, and is not influenced by external factors or other prediction markets.
