Typically, prediction market odds reflect the wisdom of the crowd and can differ from traditional sportsbook odds. Sportsbooks set their lines based on models and internal analysis, while this market allows anyone to trade on their belief about the outcome. If a large number of traders believe a particular player will win, the odds for that player will shift, potentially diverging from the initial sportsbook lines. It's common to see prediction markets more accurately forecast outcomes, especially when there's significant public interest and informed trading activity.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism where traders buy and sell shares representing their belief in each player winning. The price of a share directly corresponds to the implied probability of that outcome. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. As more traders buy shares of a particular player, the price increases, and vice versa. This dynamic pricing reflects the collective intelligence of the market participants and provides a real-time assessment of the likely winner of the Quebec City W50 tennis match.
