Often, prediction market odds reflect a different perspective than those found at traditional sportsbooks. Sportsbooks typically incorporate a 'vig' or commission into their odds, ensuring a profit margin, while Polymarket allows traders to directly assess probabilities. This can lead to differences in implied probabilities, especially when there's strong public sentiment or information asymmetry. It’s common to find that prediction markets are more efficient at incorporating new information quickly, as traders continuously update their assessments based on available data. Comparing these odds can offer a broader understanding of potential outcomes.
