Typically, prediction market odds reflect the wisdom of the crowd, often differing from initial sportsbook lines. Sportsbooks set odds based on their own models and aim to balance action on both sides, while this market aggregates the beliefs of many individual traders. If a significant amount of money flows towards one outcome, the price will adjust accordingly, potentially signaling information not yet fully incorporated into sportsbook odds. It’s common to see discrepancies, especially before the event begins, as the market reacts to news and analysis.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism, where traders can buy and sell shares representing their belief in the outcome. The price of a share directly corresponds to the implied probability of that outcome occurring. As more traders buy shares in a particular outcome, its price increases, and vice versa. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. This dynamic pricing ensures that the market reflects the collective intelligence of all participants, providing a forward-looking assessment of the Istanbul W50 tennis match’s potential results.
