Often, prediction market odds reflect a different perspective than traditional sportsbooks. Sportsbooks set initial lines to balance betting action, while this market aggregates the wisdom of the crowd, representing what traders believe is the true probability of each outcome. Discrepancies can arise due to differing information, biases, or simply the dynamics of each market. If there’s a significant difference between the implied probability on Polymarket and sportsbook odds, it might indicate an opportunity for informed traders to exploit a mispricing. It’s important to analyze both sources to form a comprehensive view.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism, where traders buy and sell shares representing their belief in the outcome. The price of a share directly reflects the implied probability of that outcome occurring. As more traders buy shares in a particular outcome, its price increases, and the implied probability rises. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The market's price is determined solely by supply and demand within Polymarket, and it’s a dynamic representation of collective predictions about the Zavatska vs Leonard match. This creates a fluid and responsive pricing system.
