Typically, prediction market odds offer a different perspective than those found at traditional sportsbooks. Sportsbooks incorporate a ‘vig’ or commission into their odds, representing their profit margin. This market, driven by the collective wisdom of traders on Polymarket, aims to reflect the true probability of each outcome, though discrepancies can occur due to differing information or biases. It’s common to see prediction markets initially align with sportsbook odds, then diverge as new information becomes available and traders adjust their positions.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism where traders buy and sell shares representing their belief in each outcome. The price of a share directly corresponds to the implied probability of that outcome occurring. As more traders buy shares in a particular outcome, its price increases, and vice versa. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. This dynamic pricing ensures the market reflects the aggregated predictions of all participants, creating a real-time forecast for the Burgas tennis match.
