Typically, prediction market odds reflect the wisdom of the crowd, often differing from initial sportsbook odds due to differing information and incentives. Sportsbooks set lines to balance action and ensure profit, while this market allows participants to directly express their beliefs about the outcome. If sportsbook odds initially favor one competitor, but the crowd believes the other has a higher chance of winning, we may see the odds on Polymarket shift accordingly. These differences can highlight potential mispricings or unique insights not captured by traditional bookmakers.
