Prediction market odds often reflect the wisdom of the crowd, potentially differing from those set by sportsbooks. Sportsbooks establish lines based on their own analysis and aim to balance action on both sides, while this market’s odds are determined by traders directly expressing their beliefs about the likelihood of each outcome. Often, prediction markets can be more accurate than traditional forecasts, as they aggregate diverse perspectives. It's common to see discrepancies, particularly before significant events or when new information emerges, as traders incorporate data quickly.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism, where traders buy and sell shares representing their belief in the outcome. The price of a share directly corresponds to the implied probability of that outcome occurring. As more people buy shares in a particular outcome, its price increases, and vice versa. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The market’s price reflects the collective judgment of all participants, creating a dynamic and responsive assessment of the event’s potential results. This creates a real-time probability assessment of the Kaji vs Sato match.
