Prediction market odds often differ from those offered by traditional sportsbooks, reflecting the wisdom of the crowd versus the assessments of professional oddsmakers. Sportsbooks set initial lines based on statistical models and expert analysis, while this market aggregates the beliefs of many individuals. If a significant number of traders believe a sportsbook is undervaluing or overvaluing a particular outcome, the prediction market odds will adjust accordingly. Discrepancies can arise due to differing information, biases, or simply varying interpretations of the event's likelihood.
