Often, prediction market odds reflect a different perspective than traditional sportsbooks. Sportsbooks typically incorporate a 'vig' or commission into their odds, ensuring a profit margin, while Polymarket allows traders to directly assess probabilities. This can lead to differences in implied probabilities, particularly when there's strong public sentiment or information asymmetry. It’s common to see this market diverge from initial sportsbook lines as new information emerges and traders refine their estimates of the outcome. Examining both sources provides a more comprehensive view of expectations.
