Prediction market odds often reflect a wisdom-of-the-crowd perspective, potentially differing from traditional sportsbook odds. Sportsbooks set lines based on their own models and aim to balance action on both sides, incorporating a profit margin. This market, however, is driven by traders who are incentivized to accurately predict the outcome. While sportsbooks may initially have different probabilities assigned, they often adjust as new information becomes available, potentially converging with the prediction market’s assessment over time. It's valuable to compare to see if there's a discrepancy.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism where traders buy and sell shares representing their belief in the outcome. The price of a share directly reflects the implied probability of that outcome occurring. As more traders participate, the price adjusts to reflect the collective assessment. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The current price indicates what the market believes is the likelihood of a particular player winning, and changes based on new information or shifts in sentiment. The total volume traded provides insight into market interest.

Unexpected announcements about player strategies or coaching decisions could also impact trader sentiment. Major upsets in related matches or tournaments could also indirectly influence the perceived probabilities in this market.
