Often, prediction market odds reflect the wisdom of the crowd, potentially differing from traditional sportsbook odds. Sportsbooks set lines based on their own analysis and to balance betting action, while this market aggregates the beliefs of many individual traders. If a significant number of traders believe a player has a higher chance of winning than sportsbooks suggest, the odds on Polymarket will likely move in that direction. It’s common to see discrepancies, especially before a large amount of trading volume occurs, as information asymmetry plays a role.
