Often, prediction market odds reflect a different perspective than those found at traditional sportsbooks. Sportsbooks incorporate a profit margin into their odds, while this market represents the collective wisdom of traders who are incentivized to accurately assess the probability of each outcome. This can lead to differences in implied probabilities. While sportsbooks may initially set odds based on expert analysis, this market continuously adjusts as new information and opinions emerge from a diverse group of participants. It’s common to see discrepancies, especially as the event approaches.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism, where traders buy and sell shares representing their belief in the likelihood of each outcome. The price of a share directly corresponds to the implied probability of that outcome occurring. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. As more traders participate and express their views, the prices adjust to reflect the aggregated sentiment. The market’s efficiency depends on the volume of trading and the information available to participants, creating a dynamic and responsive pricing environment for the Zeltina vs Taraba Wallberg match.
