Prediction market odds often reflect the wisdom of the crowd, and can differ from traditional sportsbook odds due to varying information and incentives. Sportsbooks set lines based on their own models and aim to profit from margins, while this market allows anyone to trade on their beliefs. If a significant number of people believe a sportsbook is mispricing a player's chances, the prediction market may show a different probability. It's common to see discrepancies, especially before major events or when new information emerges. Examining both can provide a more comprehensive view.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism where traders buy and sell shares representing their belief in the outcome.
