Prediction market odds often reflect the wisdom of the crowd, potentially differing from traditional sportsbook odds. Sportsbooks set lines based on their own models and risk management, while this market aggregates the beliefs of many individual traders. If a significant number of traders believe a sportsbook has mispriced an outcome, they can express that view by trading on Polymarket. This can lead to prediction market odds diverging from, or converging towards, those offered by sportsbooks, depending on the collective assessment of the event’s likelihood.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous trading mechanism where traders buy and sell shares representing each possible outcome. The price of each share reflects the market’s implied probability of that outcome occurring. As more traders buy shares in a particular outcome, its price increases, and the implied probability rises. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The current price movements are driven by the collective sentiment of traders reacting to news, analysis, and any other information they deem relevant to the Monastir tennis match.
