Often, prediction market odds reflect a different perspective than those found at traditional sportsbooks. Sportsbooks typically incorporate a 'vig' or commission into their odds, ensuring a profit margin, while this market allows traders to directly assess probabilities. If a large number of traders believe a particular outcome is more likely than implied by sportsbook odds, the price of that outcome will fall on Polymarket, potentially offering better value. Discrepancies can arise due to differing information, analytical approaches, or simply varying levels of confidence in each outcome. It’s valuable to compare both to form a well-rounded view.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism, where traders buy and sell shares representing their belief in each outcome. The price of a share directly corresponds to the implied probability of that outcome occurring. As more traders buy shares in a particular outcome, its price increases, and the implied probability rises. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The market’s price reflects the collective wisdom of the crowd, providing a dynamic assessment of the potential result of the Gutierrez Imaz vs Xu match. The current price is determined solely by supply and demand within Polymarket.

Unexpected results in other matches leading up to the Gutierrez Imaz vs Xu match might also affect perceptions of each player’s chances.
