Prediction market odds often reflect a wisdom-of-the-crowd effect, potentially differing from traditional sportsbook odds. Sportsbooks set lines based on their own models and profit margins, while this market aggregates the beliefs of many individual traders. If a significant number of informed bettors believe a sportsbook has mispriced an outcome, we may see divergence between the two. It’s common to observe prediction markets incorporating information faster than sportsbooks, especially regarding late-breaking news or nuanced factors affecting the match. This can lead to more accurate probabilities, though not always.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism, where traders buy and sell shares representing their belief in the outcome. The price of a share directly corresponds to the probability of that outcome occurring. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. As more traders buy shares in a particular outcome, its price increases, reflecting growing confidence. Conversely, selling pressure lowers the price. This dynamic pricing ensures that the market odds continuously adapt to new information and changing sentiment surrounding the Xi Luo vs eunchae Kim match.
