Often, prediction market odds offer a different perspective than traditional sportsbooks. Sportsbooks set lines to balance action and incorporate a profit margin, while this market reflects the collective wisdom of traders who are incentivized to be accurate. Discrepancies can arise due to differing information, biases, or simply varying interpretations of the players’ form. If there's a significant difference between the implied probability on Polymarket and sportsbook odds, it might suggest that market participants believe the sportsbook is mispricing the likelihood of a particular outcome.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism where traders buy and sell shares representing their belief in the outcome. The price of a share directly corresponds to the probability of that outcome occurring. As more people buy shares in a particular player, the price increases, reflecting growing confidence in their victory. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The market dynamically adjusts based on supply and demand, providing a real-time assessment of the perceived likelihood of each player winning the Kunshan tennis match.
