Typically, prediction market odds reflect the wisdom of the crowd and can differ from traditional sportsbook odds. Sportsbooks set lines based on their own analysis and aim to balance action on both sides, incorporating a profit margin. This market, however, is driven by individuals willing to put their capital behind their beliefs. If a significant number of users believe a sportsbook is undervaluing a player, the prediction market odds may shift to reflect that collective insight. Discrepancies can arise due to differing information or risk assessments.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous trading mechanism where users buy and sell shares representing their belief in the outcome. The price of these shares directly reflects the implied probability of each player winning. As more shares are traded, the price adjusts, providing a dynamic assessment of the match’s potential result. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The price movements are influenced by news, player form, and overall sentiment surrounding the Heraklion tennis match.
