Prediction market odds often reflect a wisdom-of-the-crowd effect, potentially differing from traditional sportsbook odds. Sportsbooks set lines based on their own models and incorporate a profit margin, while this market relies on the collective intelligence of traders. If a significant discrepancy exists between the implied probability on Polymarket and sportsbook lines, it could indicate that the market believes the sportsbook has mispriced the event. However, sportsbook odds represent a different set of information and risk assessment, so variations are common and expected.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism where traders buy and sell shares representing their belief in the outcome. The price of these shares directly reflects the probability of that outcome occurring, as determined by supply and demand. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. As more traders buy shares in a particular outcome, the price increases, indicating a higher perceived probability. Conversely, selling pressure drives the price down. This dynamic pricing ensures the market reflects the latest information and collective predictions of participants.
This market resolves around Oct 20, 2026, with the outcome confirmed once the event is verifiable from credible public reporting. Resolution will be based on the official result of the Heraklion tennis match between Maria Sara Popa and Romane Longueville. The platform will verify the result against publicly available sources to determine the winning outcome. Traders holding shares in the correct outcome will be entitled to a payout based on the final market price at the time of resolution.
