Often, prediction market odds reflect a wisdom-of-the-crowd effect, potentially differing from traditional sportsbook odds. Sportsbooks may initially set lines based on statistical models and expert analysis, while this market allows anyone to trade on their beliefs. If a significant number of traders believe a sportsbook’s odds are inaccurate, they can take positions that drive the prediction market price in a different direction. It’s common to see discrepancies, especially before a large amount of information is publicly available, offering a different perspective on the likely result.
