Frequently asked questions

Typically, prediction market odds offer a different perspective than traditional sportsbooks. Sportsbooks often incorporate a 'vig' or commission into their odds, while Polymarket relies on the collective wisdom of its traders. This can lead to differences in implied probabilities. If a large number of traders believe a particular outcome is more likely than sportsbooks suggest, the odds on Polymarket will reflect that. It’s common to see prediction markets outperform sportsbooks, especially when there’s strong public sentiment or information not fully priced in by bookmakers.

On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism where traders buy and sell shares representing their belief in the outcome. The price of these shares directly reflects the probability of that outcome occurring. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The more shares purchased for a specific player, the higher the price rises, indicating increasing confidence in their victory. Conversely, selling shares lowers the price, suggesting decreasing confidence. This dynamic process ensures the odds constantly adjust to incorporate new information and trader sentiment.

This market resolves around Oct 25, 2026, with the outcome confirmed once the event is verifiable from credible public reporting. The resolution will be based on the official result of the Villena tennis match between Sofia Montesinos Vilanova and Maryia Kolas. The platform will rely on widely available and trusted sources to determine the winner, ensuring a transparent and accurate resolution process. Traders will then be able to claim their winnings or adjust their strategies for future events.

Several factors could influence the odds for this market. Any news regarding player form, such as injury reports or recent match results, would likely cause shifts in the market. Unexpected weather conditions at the tournament location could also play a role, potentially favoring one player’s style of play over the other. Furthermore, significant betting activity on Polymarket itself can drive price movements, as traders react to new information or simply adjust their positions based on their own analysis of the match.
