Prediction market odds often reflect a different kind of wisdom than those found at sportsbooks. Sportsbooks set lines to balance action and incorporate a profit margin, while this market represents the aggregate belief of informed traders. It’s common to see discrepancies, especially before significant events or when new information emerges. If a large number of traders believe a sportsbook is mispricing an outcome, they can express that view through this market, potentially driving the odds in a different direction than traditional betting venues. This provides an alternative perspective on the likely result.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism, where traders buy and sell shares representing their belief in each possible outcome. The price of a share directly corresponds to the implied probability of that outcome occurring. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. As more traders participate and express their views, the prices adjust to reflect the collective forecast. This dynamic pricing ensures that the market odds are constantly updated based on the latest information and sentiment surrounding the Klara Veldman vs Astrid Wanja Brune Olsen match.
