Often, prediction market odds reflect a different perspective than those found at traditional sportsbooks. Sportsbooks incorporate a 'vig' or commission into their odds, ensuring a profit margin, while this market allows traders to directly assess probabilities. If a significant discrepancy exists between the implied probability on Polymarket and sportsbook odds, it could indicate differing expert opinions or information not yet fully priced into either market. It's important to consider both sources when forming your own assessment of the likely outcome.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism, where traders buy and sell shares representing their belief in the outcome. The price of these shares directly reflects the implied probability of that outcome occurring. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The market’s price fluctuates based on supply and demand, driven by new information and shifts in trader sentiment. As more traders participate, the price tends to converge towards a more accurate representation of the event’s true probability, as collectively assessed by the crowd.

Unexpected results in preceding matches for either player, or broader tournament upsets, might also impact the odds. Furthermore, analysis from tennis experts or changes in public perception regarding each player's chances could lead to increased trading volume and price fluctuations in this market as traders react to new information.
