Prediction market odds often reflect the wisdom of the crowd, potentially offering a different perspective than traditional sportsbooks. Sportsbooks set their lines based on internal models and risk management, while this market aggregates the beliefs of many individual traders. It’s common to see discrepancies between the two, especially before significant events or when public opinion strongly favors one outcome. Analyzing these differences can be useful for identifying potential value, but remember that both represent probabilities and aren't guarantees of the final result.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous trading mechanism where traders buy and sell shares representing their belief in each outcome. The price of a share directly corresponds to the implied probability of that outcome occurring.
