Typically, prediction market odds reflect a wisdom-of-the-crowd perspective, often differing from initial sportsbook odds which are set by professionals. Sportsbooks may incorporate factors like public betting percentages and perceived biases, while this market aggregates the beliefs of a diverse set of traders. Over time, the odds on Polymarket may converge with sportsbook odds as new information becomes available and the market efficiently incorporates it. However, discrepancies can persist, potentially offering opportunities for informed traders who identify mispricings relative to traditional betting venues.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism where traders buy and sell shares representing their belief in the probability of a particular outcome. The price of a share directly corresponds to the implied probability of that outcome occurring. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. As more traders participate and express their views, the price adjusts to reflect the collective assessment. The market’s price is determined entirely by supply and demand; there is no central authority setting the odds. This dynamic pricing ensures that the market remains responsive to new information and evolving sentiment.

Unexpected upsets in other matches involving these players, or even broader trends in the world of tennis, could also impact sentiment.
