Typically, prediction market odds offer a different perspective than those found at traditional sportsbooks. Sportsbooks often incorporate a 'vig' or commission into their odds, aiming to profit regardless of the outcome. This market, however, represents the collective wisdom of traders who are incentivized to accurately predict the result. While sportsbooks may initially set odds based on expert analysis, prediction markets can dynamically adjust as new information emerges and more people participate. Discrepancies between prediction market prices and sportsbook odds can sometimes present opportunities for arbitrage, though these are often short-lived.

On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism where traders buy and sell shares representing their belief in the outcome. The price of these shares directly reflects the implied probability of that outcome occurring. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. As more traders participate and new information becomes available, the price adjusts to reflect the evolving consensus. The market’s price is determined solely by supply and demand; if more people believe an outcome is likely, the price of shares representing that outcome will increase, and vice versa. This dynamic pricing ensures the market remains responsive to changing expectations.
