Typically, prediction market odds offer a different perspective than those found at traditional sportsbooks. Sportsbooks often incorporate a 'vig' or commission into their odds, while Polymarket allows traders to directly assess the probabilities. If prediction market participants believe a sportsbook has mispriced an outcome, they can capitalize on the discrepancy by trading in the opposite direction. It’s common to see prediction markets, particularly closer to the event, become more accurate than initial sportsbook offerings, as they reflect the collective wisdom of a diverse group of forecasters.
