Prediction market odds often reflect the wisdom of the crowd, and can sometimes diverge from traditional sportsbook odds. Sportsbooks set lines based on their own models and aim to balance action on both sides, while this market allows anyone to express their belief about the outcome. If a large number of informed bettors believe a sportsbook is mispricing the probability of a particular result, we might see the odds on Polymarket move in a different direction. It's a fascinating comparison to see how collective prediction differs from professional analysis.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism, where traders buy and sell shares representing their belief in the likelihood of each outcome. The price of a share directly corresponds to the implied probability of that outcome occurring.
