Frequently asked questions

Comparing prediction market odds to sportsbook odds reveals how the wisdom of the crowd stacks up against professional oddsmakers. Often, prediction markets can offer different perspectives, especially as new information emerges. Sportsbooks initially set lines based on statistical models and expert analysis, but this market allows for a continuous adjustment of probabilities based on a wider range of inputs from many traders. Discrepancies can arise due to differing opinions, access to information, or simply the dynamics of each venue. It's a valuable exercise to see how these two approaches to forecasting diverge.

On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism, where traders buy and sell shares representing their belief in the outcome. The price of a share directly reflects the implied probability of that outcome occurring. As more traders participate, the price adjusts to reflect the collective assessment of the event. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The market’s price is determined solely by supply and demand within Polymarket, and is not influenced by external factors or other prediction venues. This creates a dynamic and responsive pricing system.

This market resolves around Oct 19, 2026, with the outcome confirmed once the event is verifiable from credible public reporting. Resolution will be based on the official result of the Honori Koyama vs Junjie Sun match, as reported by a recognized sporting authority. The platform will verify the result against publicly available data to determine the winning outcome. Traders who held shares in the correct outcome will be entitled to a payout based on the final market price at the time of resolution.

Several signals or events could significantly move this market before resolution. Any news regarding player injuries, changes in match conditions, or updates on player form could influence trader sentiment. Unexpected announcements about team strategies or coaching decisions could also cause shifts in the odds. Public opinion, as reflected in polls or expert analysis, might also play a role, though the market ultimately reflects the collective judgment of traders on Polymarket. Major upsets in related matches could also indirectly impact the perceived probabilities.
