Typically, prediction market odds can offer a different perspective than those found at traditional sportsbooks. Sportsbooks often incorporate a 'vig' or commission into their odds, while Polymarket allows traders to directly assess probabilities. This can sometimes lead to discrepancies, with this market potentially offering more favorable odds depending on how traders value different outcomes. It’s common to see prediction markets reflect the 'wisdom of the crowd,' potentially identifying value that sportsbooks miss, or reacting more quickly to new information. However, sportsbook odds still represent a valuable comparison point.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism, where traders buy and sell shares representing their belief in the outcome. The price of a share directly corresponds to the probability of that outcome occurring. As more traders buy shares in a particular outcome, its price increases, and vice versa. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The market's price is determined entirely by supply and demand among traders on Polymarket, reflecting their collective assessment of the players' chances of winning the Shenzhen tennis match.

Several factors could influence the trading activity in this market. Any news regarding player injuries, changes in playing conditions, or updated rankings could shift trader sentiment. Unexpected results in other matches involving these players, or even broader tournament upsets, might also cause the odds to fluctuate. Furthermore, significant trading volume from informed traders could signal new information or a change in expectations, potentially leading to a noticeable movement in the price of shares for this market. Public analysis and expert predictions could also play a role.
