Prediction market odds often reflect a different perspective than traditional sportsbook odds. Sportsbooks typically incorporate a 'vig' or commission into their odds, ensuring a profit margin, and may be influenced by public betting patterns. This market, however, represents the collective wisdom of traders who are incentivized to accurately predict the outcome. While sportsbooks may initially set odds based on expert analysis, prediction markets can quickly adjust as new information emerges and traders refine their assessments. Discrepancies between the two can present opportunities for arbitrage, where informed traders capitalize on differing valuations.
