It's common to see differences between prediction market odds and those offered by traditional sportsbooks. Sportsbooks often set initial odds to balance their risk, while prediction markets reflect the collective wisdom of traders. If a significant number of traders believe a particular outcome is more likely than implied by sportsbook odds, the price on Polymarket will adjust accordingly. This dynamic can create opportunities for informed traders to potentially find value discrepancies between the two.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism where traders buy and sell shares representing their belief in the likelihood of each outcome. The price of a share directly corresponds to the implied probability of that outcome occurring.
