Often, prediction market odds reflect a different perspective than traditional sportsbooks. Sportsbooks set initial lines to balance betting action and incorporate a profit margin, while this market relies on the collective wisdom of traders. If a significant number of traders believe a sportsbook’s odds are inaccurate, they can influence the price on Polymarket to reflect their assessment. Discrepancies can arise due to differing information sources, analytical approaches, or simply varying levels of public attention on the Vandevelde vs Monko match. It’s common to see prediction markets outperform traditional odds, especially when specialized knowledge is involved.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism. Traders buy and sell shares representing their belief in the likelihood of each outcome in the Vandevelde vs Monko match. As more shares are bought for a particular outcome, its price increases, reflecting a higher implied probability. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The price of each share directly corresponds to the probability of that outcome occurring, as determined by the collective actions of all traders on the platform. This dynamic pricing ensures the market reflects the most up-to-date information and sentiment.
