Typically, prediction market odds offer a different perspective than those found at traditional sportsbooks. Sportsbooks often incorporate a 'vig' or commission into their odds, which represents their profit margin. This market, driven by the collective wisdom of traders, aims to represent the true probabilities of each outcome. While sportsbooks may initially set odds based on expert analysis, this market evolves as more information and opinions are factored in by participants. It’s common to see discrepancies, with prediction markets sometimes offering more accurate forecasts, particularly as the event approaches.

On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism. Traders buy and sell shares representing their belief in the likelihood of each outcome. As more shares are traded, the price of each share adjusts to reflect the current market consensus. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The price of a share directly corresponds to the implied probability of that outcome occurring. For example, a share priced at 60 means there's a 60% implied probability of that outcome. The market is driven entirely by supply and demand; traders are incentivized to provide accurate predictions.
