Typically, prediction market odds reflect the wisdom of the crowd, often differing from traditional sportsbook odds due to varying information sources and incentives. Sportsbooks set lines to balance action and ensure profit, while this market allows anyone to express their belief about the outcome. If a large number of informed bettors believe a sportsbook is mispricing a player's chances in the Neuquén tennis match, the prediction market may show a different probability. These discrepancies can present opportunities for arbitrage, though they are not always present.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism where traders buy and sell shares representing their belief in each player winning the Neuquén tennis match. The price of these shares directly reflects the implied probability of that outcome. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. As more traders participate and new information becomes available, the price adjusts to reflect the collective assessment of the market. The higher the demand for shares in a particular player, the higher the price, and the greater the implied probability of their victory.
