Typically, prediction market odds reflect a wisdom-of-the-crowd perspective, often differing from initial sportsbook offerings. Sportsbooks may set lines based on power rankings or public perception, while this market aggregates the views of informed traders. If a significant discrepancy exists, arbitrage opportunities may arise, as traders capitalize on the difference. However, as the event approaches, the odds on Polymarket and sportsbook lines tend to converge as more information becomes available and the market incorporates new data. It’s important to note that prediction markets can sometimes offer more accurate forecasts than traditional methods.
