Prediction market odds often reflect the wisdom of the crowd, potentially differing from traditional sportsbook odds. Sportsbooks set lines based on their own analysis and to balance action, while this market aggregates the beliefs of many individual traders. If a significant number of traders believe a particular outcome is more likely than sportsbooks suggest, the odds on Polymarket will shift accordingly. Discrepancies can arise due to differing information, biases, or simply the dynamic nature of crowd-sourced predictions. It's important to compare both to gain a comprehensive view before making a prediction.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism where traders buy and sell shares representing their belief in the outcome of the Maanshan tennis match. The price of these shares fluctuates based on supply and demand, effectively creating a probability distribution. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. As more people buy shares in a particular outcome, its price increases, indicating a higher perceived probability. Conversely, selling pressure lowers the price. This dynamic pricing allows the market to quickly incorporate new information and reflect the collective intelligence of the traders participating in this event.
