Often, prediction market odds reflect a wisdom-of-the-crowd effect, potentially differing from those initially set by sportsbooks. Sportsbooks establish lines based on their own models and aim to balance action on both sides, while this market’s pricing is driven purely by traders expressing their beliefs. If a significant number of traders believe a sportsbook has mispriced an outcome, the odds here will adjust accordingly. It’s common to see discrepancies, especially as new information emerges or public sentiment shifts regarding the players involved in the Islamabad tennis match.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous trading mechanism where users buy and sell shares representing their belief in an outcome. The price of a share directly reflects the implied probability of that outcome occurring. As more shares are traded, the price adjusts to reflect the collective wisdom of the traders. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The market’s price is determined entirely by supply and demand; there are no external factors influencing the pricing mechanism on Polymarket.
