Prediction market odds often offer a different perspective than traditional sportsbooks. Sportsbooks set lines to balance their risk and ensure profit, factoring in a 'vig' or commission. This market, however, is driven purely by the collective wisdom of traders who are incentivized to accurately predict the outcome. While sportsbooks may initially have different odds, they often adjust based on betting action, potentially converging with the prediction market price over time. It's useful to compare the two to identify potential discrepancies and assess where the crowd believes value lies.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism where traders buy and sell shares representing their belief in the outcome. The price of a share directly reflects the probability of that outcome occurring, as perceived by the market participants. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The more traders believe an outcome is likely, the higher the price of its corresponding shares will climb. This dynamic pricing ensures that the market reflects the most up-to-date collective intelligence regarding the Daems vs Daniels match.
