Prediction market odds often reflect the wisdom of the crowd, potentially differing from sportsbook odds which may be influenced by factors like house bias or initial public perception. Sportsbooks often set initial lines to attract action on both sides, while this market allows participants to freely express their beliefs. Discrepancies can arise due to differing levels of information or analytical approaches. It’s common to see prediction markets move independently of sportsbook lines as new information becomes available, offering a potentially more accurate assessment of the event’s outcome.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism where traders buy and sell shares representing their belief in the outcome.
