Typically, prediction market odds reflect a wisdom-of-the-crowd perspective, often differing from initial sportsbook lines. Sportsbooks set odds to balance their risk and ensure profit, while this market relies on traders directly expressing their beliefs about the outcome. If a significant amount of money is wagered on one outcome, the odds will shift accordingly, potentially diverging from sportsbook offerings. It’s common to see prediction markets more accurately forecast probabilities as the event approaches, especially when informed traders participate and incorporate new information into their assessments.
