Typically, prediction market odds reflect a wisdom-of-the-crowd perspective, often differing from initial sportsbook lines. Sportsbooks set odds to balance their risk and incorporate a profit margin, while this market represents the aggregate beliefs of informed traders. If a significant amount of money flows towards a particular outcome, the odds on Polymarket will adjust accordingly, potentially diverging from traditional sportsbooks. It's common to see prediction markets outperform sportsbook predictions, especially when information asymmetry exists and traders have access to unique insights.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism, where traders buy and sell shares representing their belief in the outcome. The price of these shares directly reflects the implied probability of that outcome occurring. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. As more traders participate and new information becomes available, the price adjusts to reflect the collective assessment. The market’s price is determined solely by supply and demand within Polymarket, with traders setting the odds based on their own analysis and expectations for the Wrexham tennis match.
