Frequently asked questions

Often, prediction market odds offer a different perspective than traditional sportsbooks. Sportsbooks set their lines based on a variety of factors, including public betting patterns and expert analysis, but may also include a 'vig' or commission. This market, however, is driven purely by the collective wisdom of traders who are incentivized to accurately predict the outcome. Discrepancies can arise due to differing information sources, risk assessments, or simply variations in opinion. It’s common to see prediction markets reflect a more nuanced view, especially as the event approaches and more information is incorporated into the pricing.

On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism, where traders buy and sell shares representing their belief in the likelihood of a particular outcome. The price of these shares fluctuates based on supply and demand, effectively creating a real-time probability assessment. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. As more traders participate and new information emerges, the price adjusts to reflect the collective intelligence of the crowd. The current implied probability of a specific outcome is determined by the share price, with higher prices indicating greater confidence in that result.

This market resolves around Oct 20, 2026, with the outcome confirmed once the event is verifiable from credible public reporting. The resolution will be based on the official result of the Voronenkov vs. Plakushchyi match, as declared by the governing sports authority. The platform will then verify the result against these sources to determine the winning outcome and distribute payouts to those who correctly predicted the result. Traders should monitor official sources for the final result to understand how this market will be settled.

Several factors could influence the price of this market before it resolves. Any news regarding the condition of either player, such as injuries or illness, would likely have a significant impact. Changes in rankings, recent performance data, or even weather conditions (if applicable to the sport) could also shift trader sentiment. Unexpected announcements related to the match schedule or venue could also create volatility. Ultimately, any information that alters the perceived probability of either player winning is likely to move the market.
