If Tennessee Tech scores more points than VMI in the first half, the market resolves to Yes for Tennessee Tech. If VMI scores more points than Tennessee Tech in the first half, the market resolves to Yes for VMI. If the first half ends in a tie, the market resolves to Yes for the tie outcome. As with the Arkansas vs Auburn market, any postponement that results in the game starting within 48 hours of the scheduled time keeps the market open for resolution based on the actual first-half result. Only points scored during the official first half count toward the resolution, and later game events do not affect the outcome.
Prediction market odds often reflect the wisdom of the crowd, potentially differing from sportsbook odds due to varying information and biases. Sportsbooks set lines to balance action and ensure profit, while this market allows traders to express their own independent assessments. It's common to see discrepancies, especially before significant events or when new information emerges. Examining these differences can reveal where the market believes sportsbooks may be over or underestimating a team’s chances, offering a unique perspective on the likely outcome of the first half.
On Kalshi, this market is priced through a continuous order book where traders buy and sell contracts representing the probability of each outcome. The price of a contract reflects the market's collective belief about the likelihood of that outcome occurring. On Kalshi, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. As more traders participate, the prices adjust to reflect new information and changing sentiment. The closer we get to the event, the more the price will likely converge towards the true probability, assuming efficient market dynamics. Traders aim to profit by accurately predicting the outcome and trading accordingly.
