This set of markets tracks the total points scored by both teams in the second half of an upcoming college football game, including any overtime periods. Each market corresponds to a different threshold of points, allowing participants to speculate on whether the combined second-half scoring will exceed specific values.
All markets resolve based solely on the total points scored by both teams during the second half (including overtime) of the Virginia vs Wake Forest college football game scheduled for October 31, 2026. If the game is postponed but commences within 48 hours of its original start time, all markets remain open and resolve according to the final official result. Should the game fail to start within this 48-hour window, all markets will resolve to a fair price, determined independently for each threshold. Each individual market resolves to 'Yes' only if the combined second-half points exceed its specified threshold; otherwise, it resolves to 'No'. The markets are independent, with each threshold representing a distinct outcome based on the same scoring criteria.
Prediction market odds often reflect the wisdom of the crowd, potentially offering a different perspective than traditional sportsbooks. Sportsbooks set lines based on their own models and aim to balance action on both sides, while this market aggregates the beliefs of many individual traders. This can lead to discrepancies, especially when there's strong public sentiment or new information not yet fully incorporated into sportsbook lines. It’s common to see differences in implied probabilities between this market and those offered by sportsbooks, providing opportunities for informed traders.
On Kalshi, this market is priced through a continuous order book where traders buy and sell contracts representing different 2nd half total point values. The price of a contract reflects the probability of that outcome occurring, as perceived by the market participants. As more traders buy contracts for a specific outcome, the price increases, and vice versa. On Kalshi, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. This dynamic pricing mechanism allows the market to quickly incorporate new information and adjust probabilities in real-time, offering a forward-looking assessment of the game's potential scoring.
This market resolves around Oct 31, 2026, with the outcome confirmed once the final score of the 2nd half of the Virginia vs Wake Forest game is verifiable from credible public reporting. The resolution will be based on the official points scored in the 2nd half, as recorded by official game statistics. The market will settle to 100 for the contract corresponding to the actual total points scored, and 0 for all other contracts. Traders holding the winning contract will receive a payout based on the contract’s price at resolution.
Several factors could influence the price of this market. Any news regarding key player injuries for either Virginia or Wake Forest would likely cause significant movement. Changes in weather conditions, particularly if they are expected to impact scoring, could also shift the market. Live game developments during the first half, such as a dominant offensive performance by one team, will undoubtedly influence trading activity. Finally, any significant public betting patterns or analysis released by sports analysts could also contribute to price fluctuations.
