This set of markets tracks the point differential in a college football game between Virginia and Florida State. Each market corresponds to a specific margin of victory, allowing participants to bet on whether the winning team will exceed that margin.
All markets resolve based on the official final point differential from the Virginia vs Florida St. college football game scheduled for Oct 3, 2026. If Virginia wins, markets resolve to Yes only if the victory margin exceeds the specified point threshold; if Florida St. wins, markets resolve to Yes only if their margin exceeds the threshold. For markets where Florida St. is the specified winner, the outcome is inverted compared to Virginia-based markets. If the game is postponed but starts within 48 hours of the original time, all markets remain open and resolve based on the final result. If the game does not start within 48 hours of its scheduled time, all markets resolve to a fair price, ensuring equitable treatment for all participants regardless of the game's ultimate status.
Typically, prediction market odds reflect the wisdom of the crowd and can differ from traditional sportsbook odds. Sportsbooks set lines based on their own models and need to account for a profit margin, while this market is driven purely by traders’ beliefs. If a significant discrepancy appears, arbitrage opportunities may arise, where traders can profit by simultaneously buying and selling on Kalshi and a sportsbook. However, it’s important to remember that both represent probabilities of an outcome, and neither is guaranteed to be correct.
On Kalshi, this market is priced through a continuous order book, where buyers and sellers set the price based on their expectations for the Virginia vs Florida State spread. Traders submit bids (what they’re willing to pay) and asks (what they’re willing to sell for), and the market price fluctuates as these orders are filled. On Kalshi, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The price represents the probability that the spread will fall within the range defined by the market contracts, with higher prices indicating a greater perceived likelihood of that outcome.
This market resolves around Oct 4, 2026, with the outcome confirmed once the event is verifiable from credible public reporting. The final point spread of the Virginia vs Florida State game, as determined by official sports statistics, will be used to determine which contracts pay out. Traders holding contracts on the correct spread will receive a payout, while those holding contracts on the incorrect spread will not. The exact payout amount will depend on the final market price at the time of resolution.
Several factors could influence the price of this market. News regarding injuries to key players on either the Virginia or Florida State teams would likely cause significant movement. Changes in weather forecasts, particularly if they suggest conditions that favor one team’s playing style, could also impact trading activity. Public sentiment, as reflected in polls or expert analysis, can also play a role, though this market represents independent trader opinion. Any major developments leading up to the game have the potential to shift the perceived probabilities and, therefore, the price.
