These markets track the total points scored by both teams during the third quarter of a college football game. Each market has a different threshold, and the outcome depends on whether the combined score exceeds that threshold.
All markets resolve based on the total points scored by both Virginia Tech and Clemson during the third quarter of their college football game scheduled for October 24, 2026. Each market has a specific threshold (ranging from 2.5 to 27.5 points); if the combined third-quarter score exceeds the threshold, the market resolves to Yes. If the game is postponed but starts within 48 hours of the original time, the markets remain open and resolve based on the official result. If the game does not start within 48 hours, all markets resolve to a fair price. Only points scored during the third quarter count, and Kalshi disclaims any affiliation with the NCAA.
Prediction market odds often reflect the collective wisdom of a diverse group of traders, potentially differing from sportsbook odds which are set by professional oddsmakers. Sportsbooks typically incorporate a 'vig' or commission into their odds, while prediction markets allow traders to directly bet against each other, theoretically leading to more efficient price discovery. It's common to see discrepancies between the two, especially early in the market's lifecycle. However, as the event approaches, this market and sportsbook odds tend to converge as more information becomes available and public sentiment solidifies. Analyzing these differences can reveal insights into public perception and potential value bets.
This market resolves around Oct 25, 2026, with the outcome confirmed once the event is verifiable from credible public reporting. The final score of the 3rd quarter between Virginia Tech and Clemson will be used to determine whether the total points scored exceeded the threshold defined by the market contracts. The resolution will be based on official game statistics, ensuring a transparent and objective outcome. Traders will then be paid out or have their funds returned based on whether their predictions aligned with the actual result of the game’s 3rd quarter.
Several factors could influence the price of this market. News regarding key player injuries for either Virginia Tech or Clemson would likely have a significant impact. Changes in weather forecasts, particularly if they suggest adverse conditions, could also shift expectations. Unexpected announcements about coaching strategies or team dynamics might also move the market. Furthermore, public sentiment, reflected in polls or expert analyses, can influence trading activity. Any information that alters the perceived likelihood of a high-scoring 3rd quarter could lead to price fluctuations in this market.
